Heavenly Father:
Help us... Empower a2 Church to pursue YOUR mission for the church as described in Acts 2:42-47.
Acts 2:42-47 (NIV), They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the
apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Father, I long to see a2 church become passionate in devoting ourselves to the reading, study and application of Your Word…
I long to see us passionate about fellowship, community and doing life together… Sharing meals together… Hanging out together… Praying together…
Father, I want to see You do something so miraculous among us that it creates a sense of “awe, wonder and amazement,” not because we are so good, but because Your power, presence, glory and the demonstration of Your mighty acts are so compelling among us… May we become so saturated with Your presence that a sense of reverent awe is experienced every time your church gathers!
Father, I long to see You release extravagant generosity in our church family, so that needs are met and the poor are ministered to... Fulfill the words of Acts 4:34, "...there were no needy persons among them..." due to the extravagant generosity of the body of Christ.
Father, I long to see us passionate in regards to the way we worship… I pray that we would show up "in the temple courts" prepared to lift Jesus high… May our church be marked by deep love for Jesus... Help us to respond to all that You are with all that we are... I pray that we would always be captivated by Jesus - the extravagance of His grace, the steadfastness of His unconditional love!
Father, I pray for explosive growth… I pray that we would be passionate about reaching out to people with the hope of the gospel of Jesus…
I pray that people would to come to know Jesus by the dozens… By the hundreds... I pray that You would turn our addition to multiplication (Acts 6:7; 9:31; 12:24.)
I pray for sins to be forgiven and forsaken… For families to be restored… For people to be healed… For lives to be radically changed…
I lift this up!
Father, I prayer that you would help @a2 Church to…
CREATE an atmosphere where broken people find healing, weary people find rest, the discouraged find hope, the outcast finds acceptance and every one experiences transformation.
SHARE the life-giving message of the gospel of Jesus with the thousands of un-churched and spiritually disconnected people in the greater Birmingham area. (2 Thessalonians 3:1)
GROW believers spiritually through worship, prayer, Bible study and community; creating a contagious environment where people grow and become more like Jesus. (Colossians 4:12)
EQUIP and empower believers to make a difference by serving people in our city and around the world. (1 Corinthians 12)
LOVE, laugh, learn and do life together in unity. (Acts 2:1-4)
INSPIRE worship and communicate truth through the creative and compelling use of the arts.
PARTNER with parents in leading every child and student into a growing, personal and dynamic relationship with Jesus by creating relevant environments and experiences that meet children and students right where they are… (Deuteronomy 6)
BUILD a “cutting edge” ministry to young adults that will help them “connect” or “reconnect” to Jesus and His church.
BE a thoroughly missional church committed to acting as missionaries in our city and world, supporting career missionaries, sending out hundreds of participants on short-term missions trips/projects and launching at least one new church plant every year… (Matthew 28:19-20)
Father, we trust You to do in and through a2 Church what only You can do! Do something so BIG among us that we stand back and say, "Only God! Only God! Only God!"
