My Favorite Movies of 2015

Mad Max: Fury Road
By far, my favorite movie of the year! Seriously! Watching the “Special Features” on the Blu-ray made me love it even more!

Steve Jobs
This movie moved me deeply… Incredibly written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle, its exploration of a very flawed man discovering his humanity is fascinating. By the way, Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslett both do an amazing job in their roles! In fact, all of the acting is “spot on.” Warning: Strong language.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
Tom Cruise continues to make great, really fun movies! This one did not disappoint.

The Intern
Anne Hathaway and Robert Deniro are incredible in a movie that focuses on a growing and life-changing friendship between a recently retired senior citizen and up-and-coming entrepreneur. Janet and I both loved it!

Jurassic World
Great fun at the movies. It somehow recaptured the imagination of the original…

Creed
Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone shine in this fresh addition to a franchise that has owned me since childhood. By the way, Director and screenwriter, Ryan Coogler is somebody to watch.

The Martian
Very funny, moving, engaging and entertaining…

Inside Out
Who knew you could learn so much about your emotions from a movie. From concept to execution this was one of the most creative movies of 2015.

Bridge of Spies
Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg do it again in this terrific movie!

The Visit
M. Night Shyamalan returns to form with a fun, scary movie.

Honorable Mentions:

Woodlawn
I will admit it, I don’t usually enjoy “Christian” movies. They usually seem like cheap imitations of “the real thing,” but this story focusing on something that basically happened in my back yard really moved me. The Erwin brothers continue to develop as film makers, and Caleb Castille does a great job in the lead role! Check this one out!

Cinderella and Paddington
These two movies for families and kids were very entertaining and engaging for this middle-aged dude! Well-written, directed and acted… Both movies capture the imagination of the audience and take us on a fun adventure.

Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens
I’m not a Star Wars nerd, but J.J. Abrams did a great job with this one… He takes us back and recaptures the awe and imagination that once was Star Wars.
