New MasterMind
INTENTIONAL LIVING:
Choosing A Life That Matters
Thursdays, 6:15 am
Launching This Thursday, Feb 2
The Big Idea: We all have a longing to be significant - to
make a contribution, to be a part of something noble and purposeful. Achieving
significance isn’t about age, money, status or power. The only thing you really
need to achieve significance is intentionality.
Based on John
Maxwell’s best book yet, the Intentional Living MasterMind will
help participants discover steps towards building a life, career and legacy
that actually matter. Participants will build a plan to make 2017 their best
year ever.
Curriculum:
Intentional Living by John Maxwell ($13 per book) and Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath ($18
per book)
The Intentional
Living MasterMind is a 5-6 week MasterMind with
participants meeting once a week. Register today by emailing Chris at cgoins@a2church.org.

FIVE QUOTES I’m
Thinking About:
“Men are anxious to
improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they
therefore remain bound.” —James Allen

“Don’t ask yourself
what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and
do that. Because what the world needs is people who are alive.” —Howard

upon activity. There is no development physically or intellectually without
effort, and effort means work.” —Calvin Coolidge
Every single emotion
you have should be processed in prayer. —Timothy Keller

YOUTUBE CLIPS Worth Checking Out:
TED Talk with Brene Brown
Chad Sepulvado and I referenced this TED Talk at our last
Lunch + Learn. I’ve listened to it several times. I even downloaded it and
created an mp3 to put on my iPhone so that I could listen during my workouts.
It’s that good! It is my favorite TED talk of all time… Evidently it resonates
with a lot of people. It’s been viewed almost 6 million times!
The insights and principles Brown shares have the power to transform your life,
your relationships and your work place.
Check this out asap.

TEDxMarin with Robb Willer
While we’re on TED Talks, here’s a very important talk.
Especially right now… Seriously, we need this…
I know… I know… We’re
all weary of politics. But wouldn’t you have to admit that there’s got to be a better way to have a political conversation
than what we are hearing and seeing played out on talk radio or television news
talk shows on a daily basis? It’s disheartening…
Social Psychologist, Robb Willer, describes the problem,
shares some observations, and then points to a possible solution. By the way,
the take-aways in this talk translate beyond the arena of political
conversations and provide some helpful strategies you can employee in any
conversation.
Another great Ted talk!

PODCAST WORTH LISTENING TO:
Season 8, Episode 1
I’ve really enjoy listening to Michael’s podcast. Right now,
he’s in the process of revamping it, but this episode from June 2016 is “gold.”
I’ve probably listened to this podcast three, four or maybe
more times. In it, Michael discusses the differences between a “scarcity mindset” and an “abundance mindset,” and how “scarcity thinking” will limit your future and sabotage your life.
You can listen to the podcast on iTunes or using this link.
BTW, One of the things I love about Michael’s podcast is that
he provides a full transcript of each episode. In fact, here’s a link to the
transcript of this episode: https://michaelhyatt.com/se0801-limiting-mindset.html
This is a session you’ll find yourself going back to again
and again. It really is that good!
THREE ARTICLES WORTH READING:
The culture you establish, build, cultivate and nurture at
your workplace, on your team and in your family is critical! It will impact the
performance and effectiveness of your team, more than any other single factor. In
fact, leadership and business guru, Peter Drucker once said it like this: “Culture
eats strategy for breakfast.”
In this post, Dr. Tim Elmore, describes five attitudes and
actions that will kill your company, team and / or family culture. This article
is a great read! Check it out asap!
Seth Godin’s Blog
Seth’s ability to distill poignant insights in really short
pieces blows me away. This is a really short post by Seth that packs a powerful
punch!
Discover an “addiction” that many of us have and aren’t even
aware of. Make a decision today that you’re going to do something about it!
The insanity stops now!
What Leaders Need
to Know About Their Most Important Relationship
Since I’ve already referenced Michael Hyatt, not only is his podcast
excellent, but he is sort of “the man” when it comes to blogging! The dude is
prolific! I love his stuff!
If you’re married and you’re a leader, the health of your marriage will
directly impact your effectiveness.
In this excellent post, Michael lays out three rubber-meets-the-road,
life-related suggestions for improving a good marriage and rebuilding a broken
one. This is an excellent post. Check it out!
Until next time:
Keep learning! Keep leading!
