LONELY MOON

Mark Heard is one of my favorite singer songwriters, period. Me and Janet began listening to Mark when we were in our teens. Over the years, Mark's songwriting grew somewhat more cynical, lonely, jaded, or perhaps overwhelmed by reality of life in a world scarred by sin... But despite this nagging sense of cynicism, Mark's songs always possessed a sense of resilient hope in God's promise regarding our ultimate redemption.

Here's one of Mark's best songs set to some beautiful and haunting animation. The song describes how this world tends to crush and beat the life out of our hopes, dreams and creativity leaving us somewhat "soul-less."

Every time I hear this song, I hear the words of Paul in Romans 8:22-27 - creation groans..and so do we...

Let's ask God to give us clarity, creativity and the courage to express our deepest hopes and longings in ways that touch the heart and help people recover their souls. This is Mark's song, "Lonely Moon."

May it prompt you to pray and fight for your soul...
