a2 BLOCK PARTY - Download and Shout Outs

A special thanks to all of you who made this past weekend's Block Party a success!

First of all, thanks to all of you who took it "to the streets" and helped to cover the area with "prayer walks," door hangers, flyers and postcards before Sunday's Block Party. You guys and gals were awesome!

I was really excited about the group of people who showed up to participate... You made a BIG DIFFERENCE!

We had a good number of people check out the block party and a2 Church for the first time based upon these contacts. Me and Janet got to interact with several of these guests and a lot of them will be checking out a2 Church in the coming weeks. Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out and love our city.

CELEBRATE: 4:30-6:30 pm
Here are some special "shout outs" to all of you who made the day a big success.

Thanks to David Upton and the guys at Craneworks for the tables, chairs and grill. This was a huge blessing.

Thanks to David Watts, Andy Lange, Tom Costigan and Billy Walters who jumped in to assist with set up!

Thanks to Ron Wiggins for picking up and dropping off all the rental equipment. This was huge.

Thanks to Paul Baggett for cleaning off the parking lot so that we had a really neat place to welcome all of our guests.

Greg and Kathy Gilbert are the real deal! They shopped for and secured all of the food products. Thanks a million.

Then, Greg and his team, including people like Mike and Melanie Weeks, did a great job cooking up the "dogs," making loads of Smores and serving the crowd! Hats off to Greg, Kathy and the entire team.

If I left anybody out, it's not intentional. We had a TERRIFIC TEAM of volunteers involved in making this event possible. Thanks so much for your involvement.

Finally, Act of Congress blew it away at the concert. These are great guys (and gal) with huge hearts and terrific talents. We're proud to call them "friends."

On another note, it was pretty exciting stuff to have a police car show up at a bluegrass concert! That's right. We had the opportunity to "grow" a little more in the area of wisdom Sunday night.

About half way through AOC's show we had a visit from one of Vestavia's finest informing me that we had failed to secure a "live band" permit. (Holy Cow! I never knew SO MANY PERMITS were necessary...)

Thankfully the Officer graciously allowed the concert to continue with only a warning... Whew! Next time we'll know... The good news iswe're already creating excitement and we're not even "open for business" yet.

I think what happened Sunday evening is what we'd like to see happen more often at a2 Church...

People reaching out... Taking risks... Joining the adventure... Investing and inviting... Loving and serving... Reaching and caring... Laughing and learning... Living and giving...

Thanks to all of you who made it possible!

It was an incredible evening! I met one family who came because of the door hangers and wanted to know where the music was coming from. Speaking of... Act of Congress was awesome! Looking forward to Sunday.
