WHY PLANT ANOTHER CHURCH?

Okay, here's the obvious question: why plant another church?

More than 8 of 10 churches are either declining or growing less than their community’s population growth rate. ~ Thom Rainer, Breakout Churches, Zondervan, p. 74.

Since 1991…the number of adults who do not attend church has nearly doubled, rising from 39 million to 75 million - a 92% increase! ~ The Barna Group, May 4, 2004.

In the last quarter-century, America as a whole grew at a rate 20 times faster than the church. ~ The Christian Chronicle

North America is the only continent in the world where Christianity isn’t growing ~ Elmer Towns, Ed Stetzer and Warren Bird, 11 Innovations in the Local Church, Regal Books, p. 15.

In 2002, the Southern Baptists Church’s Council on Family Life reported that roughly 88 percent of evangelical children are leaving the church shortly after they graduate from high school.

The U.S. is the largest mission field in the Western Hemisphere, and the fifth largest mission field on the planet. ~ George Hunter quoted by Ed Stetzer, Planting Missional Churches, Broadman and Holman Publishers, p.5

Church planting is essential. Without it Christianity will continue to decline in North America. ~ Ed Stetzer, Planting Missional Churches, Broadman and Holman Publishers, p. 5.

The single most effective evangelistic methodology under heaven is planting new churches. ~ Peter Wagner, Author and Missiologist

The vigorous, continual planting of new congregations is the single most crucial strategy for 1) the numerical growth of the body of Christ in any city, and 2) the continual corporate renewal and revival of the existing churches in a city. Nothing else – not crusades, outreach programs, para-church ministries, growing mega-churches…will have the consistent impact of dynamic, extensive church planting. This is an eyebrow raising statement. But to those who have done any study at all, it is not even controversial. ~ Tim Keller, Redeemer Church and Redeemer Church Planting Center

Finally, the answer to the question: Why plant another church? Because church planting is Biblical… Jesus championed it! Paul did it.

Are you interested in being part of a missional movement with the potential to impact a city for the kingdom of God and with the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Then make plans to join us this Sunday.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
If you are NOT connected with a local church, we need your help. As a new church plant we are at ground zero – no building, no people, no equipment, no money…ground zero. But we firmly believe that God is stirring the hearts of men, women, young adults, students, teens and children to “dream big” and plant a new life-giving church in the Birmingham area.

Take a moment to pray and ask God if He is leading you to be a part of the a2 Church Launch Team. Then, make plans to attend our first Launch Team Meeting this Sunday evening.

You can MAPQUEST directions or call us at the number listed above.

WAYS TO PARTNER:

1. Prayer Partner

We really believe “history belongs to the intercessors. It belongs to those who believe and pray the future into being.” ~ Walter Wink

Why not add a2 to your prayer list and pray for a2 on a consistent, regular basis? This simple act can have a significant impact.

2. Hands On Help

We also believe that God has gifted the body of Christ with some amazing gifts and abilities. Perhaps you feel led to put those gifts and abilities into action through the ministry of a2.

Let us know… There are all kinds of ways you can serve…

3. Outreach and Evangelism

a2 Church wants to reach unchurched people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s our goal. Help us reach out by inviting your unchurched friends, neighbors, work associates and acquaintances to be a part of a2. Invite them to the Launch Team Meeting. Everybody enjoys great BBQ.

4. Financial Partnership

It’s the most difficult aspect of church planting to talk about, but financial partners are needed. Just pray. If God speaks, listen. If He doesn’t, cool. We firmly trust in the faithfulness of our great God.

To find out more about how you can be a part of this missional community, join us this Sunday night.
